Ndoro and Sandown Studs will offer, between them, no fewer than 11 quality yearlings at Thursday’s Cape Yearling Sale.

Ndoro’s draft is made up of lots by such sires as Ashaawes Horse Chestnut, Jackson, Mambo In Seattle, and Sail From Seattle, while James Armitage’s Sandown Stud has the distinction of offering the only Greys Inn colt on this year’s sale, as well as lots by their own resident sire Ashaawes and legendary racehorse, and Triple Crown winner, Horse Chestnut.

First of the Ndoro draft to come up for sale is lot 14, a colt from the first crop of Dynasty’s triple G1 winning son Jackson, whose wins included a romp over dual Horse Of The Year Variety Club in the 2012 G1 Investec Cape Derby.

The Jackson colt is out of a winning ½ sister to G1 2yo Six Blue Notes, and is from the family of champions Jay Peg and Kochka, as well as last weekend’s impressive Storm Bird Stakes winner Barrack Street.
Next of the Ndoro draft is lot 31 –a colt by proven G1 sire Mambo In Seattle from the family of recently retired 13 time stakes winner Vauclair and his G2 winning dam Wild Aster.

Ill-fated sire Sail From Seattle (currently SA’s leading sire of 2yo winners this season) is sire of lot 61, a bay filly (bred on similar lines to Sail From Seattle’s G1 winner Elusive Gold), whose winning dam is a three parts-sister to recent feature race winner The Merry Widow. This is the family of G1 winning 2yo Talahatchie and Singapore champion Lizarre.

Lot 106 is a son by Kingmambo’s son Ashaawes out of a winning mare by Kingmambo’s half-brother Judpot. This colt’s winning dam is a half-sister to recently deceased Oaks winner Carolina Cherry, dam of Triple Tiara winner Cherry On The Top.

Sandown Stud is a consistent producer of high class performers, with their stars including former Equus Champion French Navy. Their six horse draft includes a colt (Lot 83) by former Horse Of The Year Horse Chestnut out of a winning sister in blood to Horse Of The Year Yard-Arm, whose relatives also include Triple Crown winner Abashiri.

Sandown also offers a filly (Lot 100) by Ashaawes out of a daughter of Sportsworld’s G1 daughter Tastevin, and a son by the same successful Kingmambo sire. The latter (lot 101) is out of a winning Silvano half-sister to G3 2yo Broadway Dude and hails from the wonderfully successful Enchanting family, responsible for champions Harry’s Charm, Laverna and National Currency.

Lot 114, is the only yearling by Greys Inn (sire of reigning Horse Of The Year Legal Eagle) on sale. He is out of a four time winning Windrush half-sister to a stakes horse from the family of black type winners Gold Standard and Court Gold.

Horse Chestnut (whose daughters include G1 winners Lucifer’s Stone and Chestnuts N Pearls) is sire of lot 124, a filly out of stakes placed winner of three, and lot 127, a filly out of a five time winning sister to champion Hide Out from the family of classic winning filly Summer Line.
