While neither Bosworth Farm nor Bush Hill Stud have big drafts at the 2017 National Yearling Sale, both studs offer buyers exciting opportunities to buy into some of South Africa’s best families.

Neil and Lyth Orford’s Bosworth Farm Stud, the breeders of 2013 G1 Vodacom Durban July winner Heavy Metal, among numerous other top class performers, will offer four well bred yearlings at next month’s National Sale.
The Bosworth draft includes an Ideal World half-brother to none other than July winner and former Equus Champion Heavy Metal. This colt, catalogued as lot 97, is out of the winning Baroon mare Percussion –whose relatives also include such notable G1 winners as Drum Star, For The Lads and Planetary Music.

Other lots of interest from this draft include a Dupont half-sister to feature race winning filly Rivulet (Lot 186), an Ideal World filly from the same family as G1 Met winner Angus (Lot 74) and a Mambo In Seattle colt out of a winning own sister to the top class fillies Fun Fly and Angel Flight (Lot 404). The latter also hails from the same family as dual Horse Of The Year and Hong Kong G1 winner Variety Club.

Bush Hill Stud, whose exciting young Galileo sire Flying The Flag is a full brother to 2017 English classic hope and G1 Fillies Mile winner Rhododendron, are also proven breeders of top class thoroughbreds.

Amongst the best horses bred by the stud are G1 Summer Cup winner Wolf Whistle, the G1 winning siblings Stellite and Zirconeum, and G2 Emerald Cup winner The Mouseketeer. The latter earned more than R1.2 million during a career which saw him win or place in six feature races.

Bush Hill’s NYS draft this year includes a filly by prominent first crop sire Crusade (and half-sister to debut winner Cat N’Mouse) whose dam is a half-sister to The Mouseketeer (Lot 96), a Byword filly out of a stakes placed ½ sister to G3 winner Chico Azul (Lot 134), and a colt by G1 Middle Park Stakes winner Crusade out of a half-sister to 2 graded winners, including Viva, winner of the G3 Champagne Stakes (Lot 143). Viva herself is the dam of two graded winners including G2 Sceptre Stakes winner and R3.7 million plus earner Live Life.

Bush Hill will also be offering lot 345 as agent. This daughter of the farm’s Horse Of The Year sire Irish Flame is a half-sister to stakes horses, including G2 2yo Storm Bringer, and hails from the same family as G1 Computaform Sprint winner Shoe Shac.
