Spring Valley Stud, one of KZN’s leading breeders, has a strong draft of 16 yearlings on offer at this week’s KZN Yearling Sale.
The stud will be offering yearlings by a variety of stallions, including the Australian based sire Turffontein.

The latter, a G1 winning son of Johannesburg –like sire sensation Scat Daddy, is the sire of lot 177, a filly whose seven winning siblings won 17 races overseas, and her dam is a winning Dehere half-sister to Australian G2 winner Sarson Trail.

Spring Valley will also be offering three yearlings by their promising resident sire, and A P Indy son, Just As Well. These lots include a brother to a winner, whose dam is a winning ½ sister to four stakes horses including G1 Durban July winner and millionaire Dunford (Lot 58), a half-brother to five winners, including G3 filly Miss Zummerudd (Lot 200), and a filly from the same family as Horse Of The Year Yard-Arm and Triple Crown winner Abashiri (Lot 213).

In-form sire Ideal World, responsible for recent graded winners Hermoso Mundo and Zante, is the sire of lot 4 –a colt whose dam is a sister in blood to graded winners Hundred Acre Wood and Syon, while G2 Dingaans winner Curved Ball (by champion sire Fastnet Rock) has a filly on offer out of G3 Strelitzia Stakes winner Passive Resistance (Lot 45).

Blue blooded G1 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf runner up Noble Tune has two in this draft –a filly out of G3 filly Miss Zummerudd (Lot 23) and a colt out of six time winner and G3 performer Orange Blossom (Lot 39).
Mambo In Seattle, whose dual G1 winning daughter Same Jurisdiction was sold off this sale, is responsible for lot 47 –a filly whose Silvano sired dam is a half-sister to 3 stakes winners including G2 Merchants winner Royal I.Q, while French G1 winner King’s Apostle is the sire of 69, a filly out of a daughter of the brilliant filly Melting (Lot 69).

Bang in-form sire Toreador, sire of recent G1 Tsogo Sun Sprint winner Bull Valley and KZN Million Mile winner Matador Man, is the sire of two yearlings in this draft –a filly out of a winning daughter of champion US sire Elusive Quality and Irish 1000 Guineas winner Hula Angel (Lot 76) and a filly whose second dam is Rainbow Quest ½ sister to champion Strategic Choice, from the same family as star fillies Spain and Shuvee (Lot 112).

Visionaire is another sire who has enjoyed a great trot of success lately, and he is the sire of lot 132, a filly from the same family as Australian G1 winners Festal and Wandjina (Lot 132), while lot 183 is a colt by Dynasty’s champion son Irish Flame and out of a four time winning half-sister to a G2 sprinter.
Champion Kildonan, sire of high class performers Rosier and Beach Goddess, is the sire of lot 216, a filly out of a winning Fort Wood half-sister to 4 stakes horses and ¾ sister to G1 Cape Fillies Guineas winner Indiscreet Fantasy, while Giant’s Causeway’s beautifully bred son Eightfold Path is responsible for lot 220 –a half-sister to 2 winners, whose dam is an own sister to the granddam of Saturday’s Listed Irridescence Stakes winner Rose In Bloom.
