Roll of Honour – EQUUS AWARDS

Criteria for Breeding Awards:

1. Champion Stallion - For the stallion whose progeny won most stakes in the season.
2. Broodmare of the Year — Only mares that produced a Stakes Winner in the season are considered. Preference to mares with more than one stakes winner, but consideration can be given for lifetime achievement.
3. Outstanding Stallion Achievement Award — recognising a stallion bursting onto the scene.
4. Breeder Award for Exceptional International Achievement — for the breeder of a South Africa-bred horse that has performed with great distinction internationally.
5. Breeder of the Year Award — for quality of horses produced, number of Stakes Winners and average earnings per runner.
6. Champion Breeder — for the breeder with highest stakes earned in the season.

The annual Equus Awards also known as the "Oscars" of South African horseracing are presented to individuals, both equine and human, who have achieved exceptional results during the racing season for that period.
