Connemara brings five to National Yearling Sale
24 March 2010
BREEDERS Paul and Linda Garlicki of Connemara Stud will be sending five yearlings to the Emperors Palace National Yearling Sale next month.
The Garlicki’s started breeding with only five mares in the early 1990s and their growing concern now boasts 15 select broodmares.
Connemara has produced many multiple winners. Grade 2 winner La Deportista put them on the map and they pride themselves on having bred Listed winner Sudden Storm , the second favourite for the Durban July back in 2007 when injury interrupted his career and he was forced to miss the big race.
Paul tells: “We also bred and raised trainer Justin Snaith’s super Grade 1 winner Sparkling Gem who I am sure needs no introduction.”
They offer this year a Captain Al colt (Lot 151) out of a half-sister to Sudden Storm which Paul describes as “tall and leggy, much like Sudden Storm.”
Night Owl (Lot 224) is a filly by freshman sire Black Minnalouse from West Man’s daughter Happy Hosta. This one has plenty of US blood flowing in her veins and Paul tells: “Night Owl is well conformed and very nice.”
Their pick, however, is Lot 94 Star Factor, a chestnut filly by National Emblem from Corn Factor with plenty of black type down to her fourth dam. “She is a three parts sister to State Factor and we like her a lot,” comments Paul. “She is beautiful and well conformed.” For further information contact BSA’s CEO - Jan Naude or Sales Manager - Caroline Simpson - +27(0)11 323 5700 enquiries@tba.co.za
