South Africa’s reigning champion sire Vercingetorix continues to stamp his authority, with his daughters Callmegetrixand Tomyris delivering a 1-2 finish in the Listed Off To Stud Stakes at Hollywoodbets Greyville on Sunday.

The victory marked a special milestone for the top stallion, with Callmegetrix becoming his 62nd individual stakes winner.

Given a confident ride by Sean Veale, the Candice Bass-Robinson-trained mare made her intentions clear early on, dictating the pace before pulling away to win comfortably by over 1.75 lengths.

Bred by Rathmor Stud, the five-year-old daughter of Clarion Call (by Kabool) has now won five of her 21 starts, amassing R844,937 in earnings. She’s shown her class before, having finished second last season in the G2 HKJC World Pool Tibouchina Stakes, as well as the Listed Ladies Mile and Sweet Chestnut Stakes.

Owned by Mario Ferreira, Callmegetrix adds another feather to the cap of her exceptional sire Vercingetorix, who was crowned Champion Sire of 2024-2025, while also topping the 2YO and 3YO Sires’ premierships.

Vercingetorix will command a service fee of R300 000 + vat this coming season.
