Two exceptional fillies took centre stage at Fairview on Sunday, with Lammerskraal Stud’s unbeaten Marchland and Varsfontein Stud’s remarkable Anotherdanceforme adding further black-type victories to their already impressive records.
For Marchland, it was a fifth consecutive victory and another great result for Ridgemont stallion Malmoos, while Anotherdanceforme continued her extraordinary run of success, by Master Of My Fate out of Destiny Dancer.
Lammerskraal Stud’s Marchland has yet to taste defeat, and the daughter of Malmoos extended her unbeaten record to five when winning the R300,000 KONICA MINOLTA SA STAKES over 1600m.
Returning from a break since her Gr2 victory this past July and taking on the colts, Marchland showed her class to defeat New Day by three-quarters of a length under Muzi Yeni, giving trainer Kelly Mitchley another memorable afternoon with the talented filly.
Marchland had already established herself among the leading juveniles of her generation, with victories in the East Cape Fillies Nursery, the Lady’s Slipper Stakes and the Gr2 Douglas Whyte Thekwini Stakes at Hollywoodbets Greyville.
Sunday’s success was her fourth black-type victory in five starts, an exceptional record for a filly still in the early stages of her 3yo career.
Marchland is out of the Western Winter mare Marcheline, who has also produced the five time winner Fate Of Fortune and four time winner Count Marsh.
Purchased for R450,000, Marchland continues to reward the faith placed in her by owner Mervin Govender.
While Marchland is an exciting young filly, Varsfontein Stud’s Anotherdanceforme has already compiled a record that commands considerable respect.
The 4yo daughter added the R400,000 TAB CASINO ALGOA CUP (Listed) over 2000m to her growing collection of feature victories, defeating Prairie Dawn by half a length under her regular jock Richard Fourie for trainer Alan Greeff.
The victory took her remarkable record to thirteen wins from fifteen starts.
Bred by Varsfontein, Anotherdanceforme is out of the What A Winter mare Destiny Dancer.
Destiny Dancer is also responsible for the Listed Sweet Chestnut Stakes winner Princess Izzy, another daughter of Master Of My Fate, making the two fillies, full sisters.
Anotherdanceforme races for Peter Moor, purchased for R650,000 at the 2024 National Yearling Sale. Amongst her achievements include victory in the Gr2 SPLASHOUT GOLDEN SLIPPER, as well as winning the Eastern Cape Guineas, Oaks and Derby.
Well done to all concerned with these two special fillies.
