SAF-bred Chocolicious Produces First Aussie Winner

Three-year-old Fastnet Rock filly Notation (Aus) trained by Lindsay Park Racing’s David and Ben Hayes and Tom Dabernig made short work of her rivals over 1240 metres, to triumph on debut in the bet365 Maiden Plate at Geelong Racing Club.

She was secured as a weanling by James Harron Bloodstock for $260,000 at the Magic Millions National Sale on behalf of a group of owners that includes Coolmore Australia and Stonestreet Farms.

“She trialled very well and with the shades on and a good ride she got the job done well,” stable representative Bruno Rouge-Serret said.

“She’s a beautifully-bred filly so we’ll look at the options in the spring, there’s plenty for her. This will bring her on and she’ll improve.”

Successful rider Regan Bayliss also said Notation will benefit from the experience. “She came here against horses that have had three or four races and she’s handled herself fantastically well.”

Notation is a daughter of the Backworth Stud-bred Chocolicious (SAF) (Kahal {GB}), winner of the G1 Allan Robertson Championship. Her first foal Mazaheer (Aus), a filly by  Frankel (GB) was sold at the 2016 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale for $610,000 and exported to South Africa, where she is in training with Mike De Kock.
