More Feature Success For Querari

For a second week in a row, an Andre Nel trained son of Maine Chance Farms’ increasingly successful sire Querari enjoyed feature race success at Kenilworth, with Pleasedtomeetyou landing Saturday’s feature race, the Need For Speed Sprint, in fine style.

(The previous Saturday, Nel had saddled Querari gelding Head Honcho to lift the G2 Premier Trophy at Kenilworth by three and a half lengths).

Pleasedtomeetyou showed his class in Saturday’s R150 000 feature race with an authorative all the way win under jockey Greg Cheyne.
Always handy and up with the pace, the 3yo kicked on in the closing stages to post a three-parts of a length at the expense of the well-bred Russet Air (who was receiving 3kgs from Pleasedtomeetyou).

Bred and owned by Sabine Plattner, Pleasedtomeetyou, who had also finished third in the G3 Cape Classic earlier in the season, has now won three of only five outings, with his previous victories including the Listed Sophomore Sprint.

A tilt at the G1 Cape Flying Championship could now be on the cards for this progressive son of Querari and the Fort Wood mare Plaisir De Fete.

Querari’s 15 strong draft at the 2019 Cape Premier Yearling Sale includes yearlings out of such stakes winning mares as Trojan Belle and Lielums, as well as half-brothers to the graded stakes winners Crowd Pleaser and Dutch Philip.

His G1 winning sire Querari has been enjoying another fine season in 2018-2019, with the Oasis Dream’s other notable performers this season including the likes of KZN Fillies Guineas Trial winner Arianos Shadow, WSB Grand Series Consolation winner Big Mistake and Listed Michaelmas Handicap victor Warfarer.
