Alyson Wright trained Gorgeous Guest, nicknamed “Winx” by some has won her sixth race at Greyville yesterday. The courageous one-eyed filly by Pathfork is out of Guest Among Men by Among Men, and has really found her feet since May 2018, racing nine times for five wins and two places. In total she has had six wins and seven places, earning R377,325 in stakes.
She was discovered her in the paddock as a foal with her eye severely damaged and it was recommended that it be removed.
Bred by Mr Bradley Bougardt & Eclipse Racing & Breeding CC, the filly is owned by Brad Bougardt.
Gorgeous Guest is closely related to the great globetrotting SAF-bred JJ The Jetplane (Jet Master) – voted Equus Champion Sprinter in 2008, Equus Champion Older Colt/Gelding/Horse in 2010 and Equus Champion Sprinter in 2010. He is a half-brother to the dam of Gorgeous Guest.
Remembered for having poorly conformed front legs which almost saw him put down as a foal, JJ The Jetplane’s race record reads 9 wins, 4 wins in UAE, winner in Britain, winner in Hong Kong, R22,802,000 and Dhs449,696, at 3 to 6, 1000 – 1400m, inc. Computaform Sprint, Gr.1, Golden Horse Casino Sprint, Gr.1 (twice), Mercury Sprint, Gr.1 (twice), Cathay Pacific Hong Kong Sprint, Gr.1, Senor Santa Handicap, Gr.2, Al Quoz Sprint, Gr.2, Graham Beck Stakes, Gr.3, Man O’War Sprint, Gr.3, Al Quoz Sprint, Gr.3, Up Up And Away Stakes, (L). He placed 6 times including two International Gr1’s.
Guest Among Men has produced 5 winners at stud and Gorgeous Guest’s year younger Oratorio half-brother War-King is already a winner and placed from 7 starts – also owned by Mr B Bougardt and in training with Dennis Drier.

JJ The Jetplane, her dam’s half-brother wins the Gr1 in Hong Kong.
Pathfork, who relocated to Sundown Stud for the 2018 breeding season from Highlands, has produced 35 wins for the season and over R3,082,175 in stakes earned. The sire of Gr1 winning filly Mighty High. Pathfork was himself an undefeated juvenile Gr1 winner, by Distorted Humor out of a Sadlers Wells mare, from the female line of Spinning World. He was Champion Irish 2yo and the Highest Rated 2yo in Ireland in 2010, rated by Timeform 119+ at 2.
Amongst his notable progeny is Mighty High, Madame Speaker, Red Chesnut Road and My Friend Lee. Pathfork stood for a fee of R10 000 in 2018.
