Jetorio Makes It Two Runners Two Winners For Dam River Jetez

River Jetez, a year younger full sister to Pocket Power, seems to be carrying forward her family’s dynasty at Avontuur Stud – her daughter by Oratorio won for the second occasion last night at Turffontein.

River Jetez has produced two winners from two foals of racing age, and two exciting prospects to come through by Dynasty and Var.

Not only related to a South African phenomenon, River Jetez was up there herself as a racehorse – boasting 11 wins locally and internationally, racing until she was seven years of age.

Her impressive list of wins include the then J & B Met Gr1, Gold Circle Oaks Gr2, Astrapak 1900 Gr2, Gold Bracelet Gr2, Balanchine Stakes Gr2, Umzimkhulu  Stakes Gr3, Victress Stakes, (L) .

The globetrotting filly placed 24 times, including the Gr1 Dubai Duty Free, twice in the Gr1 Singapore Airlines International Cup, twice in the Gr1 TBA Paddock Stakes, and the exclusive (WFA) Gr1 Beverly D Stakes in America.

There are always lofty expectations when a race mare this good retires to stud and River Jetez, by Jet Master out of a mare that is a half-sister to Harry’s Echo, looks to be fulfilling that duty.

Her first foal by Var named Rivarine is a handsome gelding trained by Mike Azzie and owned in partnership with Messrs B Riley and Tinus Gericke.

Rivarine, who has a 2017 full sister named Delta Queen who was knocked down to Form Bloodstock for R2-million from Avontuur at the recent CTS Cape Premier Yearling Sale, is now a 6-time winner with almost a R1-million in stakes earned – he is a winner of the Gr3 Lebelo Sprint (and has previously placed in this race) and has placed in two Gr1 sprints amongst others.

Jetorio, bred in partnership by Avontuur Thoroughbred Farm & Mr & Mrs C A Amm, is by Oratorio and won for the second time last night at Turffontein.

Trained by Sean Tarry who has had enormous success with Avontuur-bred Legal Eagle, Jetorio has now won twice and made all the more sweeter with Avontuur-sponsored jockey Lyle Hewitson in the irons over the 1800m stand side track. Jetorio races in the yellow colours of Mr & Mrs C A Amm & Avontuur Estate (Pty) Ltd (Nom: Michael Taberer & Philip Taberer).

River Jetez has an as yet unraced Dynasty colt from 2016, named Watershed to look forward to.

River Jetez is truly a South African racing dream.
