LOBO’S LEGEND WINS IN HONG KONG

The Klawervlei Stud-bred six-year-old Trippi gelding Lobo’s Legend carried topweight to victory in a class 3 1200m event at Happy Valley and earlier a son of the Highlands Farm Stud-bred Jallad mare Sweet Sanette won at Launceston in Australia.
Lobo’s Legend, who won the Grade 1 SA Classic over 1800m for trainer Joey Soma in 2018, has been campaigned chiefly over 1200m and 1400m in Hong Kong by trainer David Ferraris and new trainer Paul O’Sullivan and although he has run many places this was his first win on the island and it came in his 21st start.
Neil Callan, who knows him best, chased a strong pace from draw two and the big horse ran on well down the inside rail to win by half-a-length. He paid R5.60 for a win on the Tote.
Sweet Sanette, who won a Grade 3 in both SA and Hong Kong and famously finished third for Tony Millard in the Group 1 King Stands Stakes at Royal Ascot, scored with her son Invincible Rock.
The six-year-old Sigrid Carr-trained Fastnet Rock gelding scored his fifth career win in an 1120m event under David Pires.
Sweet Sanette’s best progeny to date has been the Fastnet Rock filly Sweet Rockette who finished second in a Group 3 at Moonee Valley.
