News breaking today on Nick Luck’s podcast is that Hawwaam is to race in the UK under the care of William Haggas during 2021.

Mike de Kock  made the following comments to podcast host Luck on the show.

“He’s definitely got ability and is a very good horse. If he can deal with the undulations…and adapt to the situation there I think he’ll do very, very well. It’ll be very interesting to see how the South African form will stack up with your horses

“Its only every now and then you get the real South African champion that will stand up to your quality. I think he will be competitive, it’s really hard to tell, but I think the best of this horse is still to come.

“He’s by a sire called Silvano and the older they get the better they get. If he can improve on his Gr1 form here he’ll be competitive. But he will have to raise it another few pounds.”

Hawwaam’s half-brothers, Gr1 winners Golden Ducat and Rainbow Bridge, will meet again in this weekends Gr1 Cape Town Met.

His full sister In Limbo won recently, whilst his full brother Celestial City has entered into training with Peter Muscutt. Wilgerbosdrift have a foal by their new War Front sire, Fire Away, on their farm.
