Captain Fontane Unbeaten, Heading To Hong Kong

A R1,3-million 2019 Nationals graduate, Captain Fontane ended his South African racing career on a high before entering quarantine soon to go to Hong Kong for part owner and trainer David Ferraris and Mr Hui.

Unbeaten from all four of his starts and interrupted with a previous quarantine attempt, the full brother to Gr1 winner Snowdance was trained by Garth Puller who recently secured his second KZN Racing Award for the provincial training championship.

Bred by Cheveley Stud out of Spring Lilac from the impeccable family of Bela-Bela and All Is Secret amongst the plethora of Bold Black Types in this rich pedigree routed from the brilliant mare Mystic Spring, the handsome Captain Fontane has won over distances of 1000m-1400m and will be looking to carry the South African flag very proudly in Hong Kong based on his performances.

“The 4yo Captain Fontane is the kind of horse that could go on to greater things. He is a classy and really smart sort. He won well at Hollywoodbets Greyville on Wednesday. He is unbeaten in 4 starts and this looks likely to be his last start here as David Ferraris wants him in Hong Kong.

I would have enjoyed sending him to the Cape for the summer but have no doubt he will be very competitive in Hong Kong.”

We wish David Ferraris and the connections all the very best and look forward to following this special horse in Hong Kong.
