Klawervlei sire William Longsword, the well bred son of Captain Al, is currently enjoying a purple patch and has produced an incredible seven winners in nine days across the country – five of those in KZN.
They include smart debut winner Polar World by two lengths for trainer Adam Marcus and Jockey Craig Zackey, bred by Miss Giddy.
Another notable win was that of Blue Sky Thoroughbreds’ Coin Spinner – a handsome colt at the Nationals, he fetched R475 000 with a superb pedigree from the female line of Redberry Lane, he has won back to back for trainer Tony Rivalland and has earned a cheque in all four of his starts.
William Longsword’s stakes have just gone over the R1-million mark for the current season, with 15 wins from 36 runners and a Black Type win with Rathmor-bred Hasta Manana in the Model Man Listed recently, whose imported dam is a half-sister to the deceased overseas sire Mastercraftsman.
A R2,2-million yearling, William Longsword excelled to win six times over 1400-1600m at 2 to 3, from just eight starts, including the Gr1 Cape Guineas (1600m) and winning the US$ 500,000 CTS Mile (1600m). This is the female line of Imbongi, Mahubo, Spring Garland, Kelly, Victory Moon and Trip To Africa.
William Longsword stands for a fee of R25 000 this season.
