Fresh off dominating G1 features at Kenilworth on Saturday, Bloodstock South Africa was back in the news on Wednesday when BSA buy Super Dobbin won in smart fashion at Happy Valley.

Trained by former South African champion trainer Tony Millard, Super Dobbin (who raced in South Africa under the name of Twilight Moon) was given a fine ride by Antoine Hamelin to capture Wednesday’s Kowloon Tsai Handicap.

The five-year-old led early before being headed early on, with Super Dobbin hitting the front again close home and going on to score by a neck.

Bred by Daytona Stud, Super Dobbin, who races for Lau Yi Fai, was a R20 000 buy from the 2018 KZN Yearling Sale -and he once again underlines the great value for money that the KZN Sale represents.

A son of dual G1 winner Wylie Hall, Super Dobbin showed high-class form in South Africa at two -where he dead-heated for first place in the Listed Storm Bird Stakes before going on to win the G3 Protea Stakes and finish second in the G2 SA Nursery.

Never out of the first two in four South African starts, Super Dobbin is out of the Qui Danzig mare Vanilla Twilight – a three time winning own sister to G1 Golden Slipper / G1 Thekwini Stakes third place getter Six Blue Notes.
