Drakenstein Stud have an exciting colt coming through the ranks, as Trippi colt Charles Dickens remained unbeaten from his third start for trainer Candice Bass Robinson, whilst his full brother Somerset Maugham won the Hollywoodbets Settlers Trophy Listed on the same day at Hollywoodbets Durbanville.
Ridden by Aldo Domeyer, the colt bred and owned by Drakenstein Stud has social media whispering that he could be an exciting candidate for the Cape Guineas and Hollywoodbets Durban July in 2023. Already a feature winner of the TAB Somerset 1200 Listed, he won convincingly over 1250m by over three lengths.
Somerset Maugham was given the race in the boardroom from Hans Solo after interference in the finish. This made it his fourth career win for the Snaith Racing Stable.
They are both a full brother to Gr1 runner up Charles, out of a Dynasty mare who won the Gr2 Ipi Tombe Challenge amongst her five wins.
This is the family of War Command and Rollout The Carpet.
Champion owners Drakenstein Stud and their sire Trippi enjoyed three wins on the day which included the Snaith trained Hunting Trip.
Well done to all concerned.
