Green Laser, a Varsfontein Stud bred son of Gimmethegreenlight won in Hong Kong on Friday at Happy Valley.
Sold for just R100 000 at the 2o18 National Yearling Sale and bred and consigned by Varsfontein Stud, had displayed consistent form with trainer Robbie Sage for owners Messrs Lieveaux and JR Van Der Linden, prior to being sold and exported to Hong Kong. His South African form included winning the Gr3 Sea Cottages Stakes, earning a cheque in 8 of his 9 South African starts for two wins prior to export. He also placed in the Gr2 Gauteng Guineas and finished second to Got The Greenlight in the Gr1 SA Classic – a race that sire Gimmethegreenlight dominated with the first three past the post!
Green Laser won at Happy Valley on Friday night, taking his stakes earned to HK $974,350. He is trained by Mr W Y So and owned by Y Lot Syndicate.
Green Laser, out of Dance Domain by Parade Leader, is a half brother to Equus Champion 2YO filly Anything Goes (Var), and this is the immediate family of Capetown Noir and Across The Ice.
Gimmethegreenlight is the current leading sire of the season with R8,190,825 in stakes earned for the season.
