The Sporting Post reports that Gr1 WSB Cape Town Met winner DOUBLE SUPERLATIVE (Twice Over) has been retired and will stand at stud.
“The 2024 World Sports Betting Cape Town Met winner Double Superlative will not race again and is set for a career at stud.”
The 5yo entire was a sensational winner of the Met at only his thirteenth start when beating Rascallion to register his second Grade 1 success.
Double Superlative suffered a tendon injury in Durban in early 2022, after winning the Gr1 Cape Guineas in 2021.
He was off for over 14 months and made a miraculous recovery to return and win the WSB Cape Town Met last month.
Described as a horse that is something of a ringer for the Snaith stable’s retired multiple Durban July winner Do It Again, the handsome Double Superlative was bred by Patrica Devine Investments from Klawervlei sire Twice Over (Observatory) out of the Jet Master five-time winner, Come Fly With Me.

A R375 000 Cape Premier Yearling Sale purchase, Double Superlative won 3 races (2 of which were Gr1’s) with 6 places from 13 starts for stakes of R1 962 800.
Double Superlative retires with an official rating of 124.
Justin Snaith described his charge as a champion 3yo whom top jockey Anton Marcus, who won the Guineas on him, had described as one of the best horses he had ridden.”
It has not been confirmed which stud he will stand at.
