Litigation Wins London News Stakes

Avontuur-bred Litigation won the Gr3 Betway London News Stakes on Saturday at Turffontein, his second win on the trot to make it eight career wins in total. The handsome son of Greys Inn out of Jet Master mare Jeter is owned by Messrs J F & L M F Wernars, Harry Willson and Pippa Mickleburgh of Avontuur. Amongst the field he defeated were the likes of American-bound Gr1 winner Bless My Stars, Meridius and Safe Passage.

Trained by Sean Tarry and ridden by Gavin Lerena, Litigation is a half brother to 10-time winner Caesura. Avontuur enjoyed enormous success previously with another son of Greys Inn, 15-time winner and multiple Gr1 winning champion Legal Eagle. Gavin had previously won the Derby Trial Listed aboard Litigation.

Litigation is a previous winner of the Gr3 Victory Moon Stakes, where he defeated the likes of Sparkling Water, William Robertson, Aragosta and stable mate Nebraas.

His second dam is Gr1 winner Sport’s Chestnut, and included in the family is the likes of Horse Chestnut and Off The Mark.

Avontuur Thoroughbred Farm are boasting a winners to runners percentage of 36.4% for the season with an AEPR of R64,279.
