The renowned farm with the famous blue and white colours is enjoying another splendid season, already on 17 Black Type wins and over R17,222,644 in stakes earned, excluding restricted stakes.
They have two runners in this weekend’s Gr1 Splashout Cape Derby – represented by Gr1 winner Beach Bomb and the Nick Jonsson owned Hluhluwe, who will have the 2023 WSB Cape Town Met winning jockey in the irons, Daniel Muscutt.
Snow Pilot’s What A Winter half sister, Symphony In White, will be looking to add a Gr3 victory in her second start, as the daughter of Snowdance contests the Gr3 City Of Cape Town Cape Of Good Hope Nursery, along with Drakenstein-breds One Stripe (One World) and Winds Of Change for the Azzie stable, a What A Winter colt out of My Sanctuary.
Five year old Silver Falcon lines up in the speed contest of the Gr2 Khaya Stables Diadem Stakes, whilst the Gr3 Splashout Prix Du Cap sees Candice Bass-Robinson trained Drakenstein fillies Golden Hostess and Distant Winter meet. Summer Lily (Gimmethegreenlight) and Fatal Gem (Master Of My Fate) will be going head to head in the Listed Schweppes Cape Fillies Classic. Charles Dickens’ 5-time winning 6yo full brother, Somerset Maugham, runs for the Snaith Stable in the Listed Pongracz Jet Master Stakes along with Gold Standard’s Gold Poker Game, and Mrs Isdell’s Drakenstein bred Future Prince.
Drakenstein’s season has been highlighted by the likes of Charles Dickens, now retired to stud, as well as Beach Bomb, Mucho Dinero which is an exciting Hollywoodbets Durban July prospect, See It Again, Snow Pilot and Silver Sanctuary.
