The family of the Late Kevin Soal would have been proud of the results at Turffontein on Thursday as Higgledy Piggledy by Capetown Noir broke her maiden in Race 1, and his Gr2 winning outstanding filly Gimme A Shot won the Progress Plate, her fourth career win to date.

She won by half a length from Slinky Mapimpi, and the field included the likes of Pyromaniac and Billy Bowlegs. Kevin Soal is also the breeder of Kiss Me Captain, who has won two features for the Azzie stable, the Swallow Stakes at Turffontein and the Southeaster Sprint Listed at Hollywoodbets Durbanville.

In December 2022, Kevin Soal won his first award at the KZN Breeders Awards for champion 2YO Filly with Gimme A Shot. In 2023 posthumously, his family were present when he was awarded the Champion 3YO Filly for Gimme A Shot and Champion Sprinter Female for Kiss Me Captain, which earned him the Breeders Achievement Award for the year.

His equestrian orientated family including his daughter Courteney, have become involved in the ownership of Kiss Me Captain and Secret Recipe.
