Mike de Kock produced his 138th Gr1 winner when Silver Sanctuary, a full sister to Gr1 winner Safe Passage, won the Gr1 Tabgold Woolavington 2000 stakes on Saturday, giving breeders and owners Drakenstein Stud an exacta in the Gr1 race as Hold My Hand (Gold Standard) finished just under a length off in second.
Out of My Sanctuary by Antonius Pius, Silver Sanctuary by Silvano won her fourth career victory under Richard Fourie, not far off his season goal of 335 winners. She finished second in December ’23 to Beach Bomb in the Gr1 WSB Fillies Guineas, and placed second twice to Gimme A Nother in the Gr2 Wilgerbosdrift Fillies Guineas and Gr1 Wilgerbosdrift SA Classic.
Drakenstein have amassed 27 Black Type wins for the season and will be welcoming Charles Dickens, A Case Of You, and Sharp Frank to their stallion roster for 2024. Wild Coast will be standing at Gelykfontein Stud.
