Future Pearl clinched the prestigious Gr3 Tabgold Derby in the first of a feature double for trainer Sean Tarry on the day. Future Pearl by Futura relishes Hollywoodbets Greyville, and his last recorded career win was on this course when victorious in the Gr3 World Pool Gold Cup (3200m) and the Dstv Gold Vase (3000m) prior to that. Champion jockey elect Richard Fourie was once again in the irons, having won his last three races aboard the striking bay gelding.
Future Pearl’s victory in the Gr3 Tabgold Derby is the latest highlight in a career that has seen him win four Gr3’s among his six lifetime victories and carries the colours that have produced much success for the Beck family, historically with the great Celtic Sea and more recently with Gr1 sprinter, Lucky Lad.
A R525 000 National Yearling Sales graduate, he is bred and consigned by Drakenstein Stud, enjoying another extraordinary season with 29 Black Type wins achieved. Out of Al Mufti mare Arabian Pearl, Future Pearl is a half brother to Arabian Winter, and this is the family of Real Princess, William Longsword, Imbongi and Mahubo.
Future Pearl is an acceptance into the Hollywoodbets Durban July, taking place on Saturday 6 July.
