Champion Sire: Gimmethegreenlight

Gimmethegreenlight enjoyed another outstanding season to win the accolade of Champion sire for all three categories – Champion 2YO Sire, Champion 3YO Sire and Champion Sire overall. He ended his overall season with 24 Black Type wins, 13 Black Type winners, 44.3% winners to runners and R30,732,600 in stakes earned. Congratulations to Varsfontein Stud who stand the son of More Than Ready whose leading progeny included Gimme A Nother and Green With Envy.

Champion Freshman Sire: One World

One World has enjoyed a phenomenal start to his freshman season, crowned Champion Freshman sire for 2023/2024. He equalled his Champion sires record of 30 winners in his first season. The son of Captain Al standing at Drakenstein Stud boasted a winners to runners percentage of 53.6%, 40 wins in total and stakes earned of R5,224,275. He also produced 3 Black Type winners for the season, his most prominent being One Stripe.

Champion Breeders: Mauritzfontein and Wilgerbosdrift

Mauritzfontein & Wilgerbosdrift are once again our Champion breeders for the season with 266 Wins, 23 Black Type wins, 48.1% winners to runners percentage and R32,691,781 in stakes earned. Their leading lights for the past twelve months are soon to be exported Gimme A Nother, Frances Ethel, Red Maple, Cats Pyjamas, Mrs Browning, Cymric, Feather Boa, Egyptian Mau.

Champion Broodmare Sire: Captain Al

Captain Al has not only been an outstanding sire, but now becoming a force to be reckoned with as a sire of sires and broodmare sire. He is responsible for 17 Black Type wins this season, over 45% winners to runners, 187 wins,702 places and R25,988,706 in stakes earned.

Leading Stakes Earning Racehorse: Royal Victory

The leading stakes earning racehorse of the season went to Ambiance Stud-bred Royal Victory, a son of Pathfork trained by Nathan Kotzen. Over the past season he won three races including the Gr1 Betway Summer Cup and the Gr1 World Pool Premiers Champions Challenge, and his earnings for the season are R4,625,250. He also placed in the Hollywoodbets Durban July. Congratulations to his winning connections.
