Feature Double For Khaya Stables Broodmare Real Princess

Putting her hand up firmly for Equus Broodmare Of The Year, Real Princess by Trippi had three runners on Splashout Cape Derby day, and two of them found the winners box, both in feature races.

The Real Prince (Gimmethegreenlight) the younger full brother to his elder Gr1 winning brother who won later in the day to complete the double, won for the fourth occasion to seize the City Of Capetown Jet Master Stakes Listed by an impressive five lengths, and achieving his first career Black Type. Part of a treble for trainer Dean Kannemeyer on the day, he was the first of a double for the whole team of Lady Laidlaw’s Khaya Stables who bred and owns the four year old gelding.

Gimme A Prince secured his eighth career win, appropriately the G2 Khaya Stables Diadem Stakes for a stake of R600 000, over 1200m to end a fantastic day for for the Kannemeyer yard. A 3-time Gr1 winner, Gimme A Prince (Gimmethegreenlight) won by three quarters of a length. Merit Rated at 134, the six year old looks to be a force to be reckoned with as the season turns towards KZN in a few months time.

Real Princess also had her daughter Gimme’s Countess line up in the Gr3 Splashout Prix Du Cap, however she finished just a length and half off the winner. It’s an outstanding feat for a broodmare to represented in three features, and produce two winners.
