Talented Vercingetorix gelding Immediate Edge gave breeders Shadwell Stud not only the first of a double on the day, but possibly an entry ticket into the Hollywoodbets Durban July after winning the Gr3 4Racing Jubilee Stakes. Olivia’s Way (Pathfork – Mr Gerald Sadlier) and Atticus Finch (Master Of My Fate – Varsfontein Stud) made up the places.
It completed a superb weekend for the father-son partnership of Mike and Mathew de Kock, who celebrated their first Gr1 together just the day before. Immediate Edge, out of a Commands mare who is a half-sister to Soqrat, sold for R1,2-million off the 2023 National Yearling Sale.
He is raced in partnership by Al Adiyaat South Africa (Pty) Ltd, Wilgerbosdrift (Pty) Ltd (Nom: Mrs M Slack), Messrs C S Haynes and M F de Kock.
Immediate Edge now boasts four wins from six starts, including wins in the Secretariat and Hawwaam Stakes respectively.
