Bloodstock South Africa graduate Landoftherisingsun confirmed his status as a progressive sort when he won the Listed Settlers Trophy (2000m) at Hollywoodbets Durbanville on Saturday.
In the process, the son of Danon Platina provided jockey Muzi Yeni with the 2500th winner of his illustrious career.Trained by Justin Snaith (who saddled four winners at Hollywoodbets Durbanville on Saturday), four-year-old Landoftherisingsun was produced early in the straight by Yeni.
The pair kicked on well to go away and land the 2025 Settlers Trophy by a comfortable length.
Bred by Drakenstein Stud, Landoftherising races for Nancy Hossack, the Estate of the Late Pamela Isdell and Kalinga.
Landoftherisingsun, a R900 000 purchase from the 2023 National Yearling Sale, has won or been placed in ten of 11 starts with the promise of plenty more to come.
By Japanese champion, and upcoming sire, Danon Platina, Landoftherisingsun is a half-brother to G3 Flamboyant Stakes runner up Dawnofanewday. His Trippi sired dam Dawn Rising is a winning three-parts sister to the Trippi sired G1 winner R Heat Lightning.
