Equus Champion, and Bloodstock South Africa purchase, Golden Palm once again showed her class on Friday.
The brilliant Alan Greeff trained three-year-old made it five wins from six starts, and four feature race wins in a row, when she ran out a facile winner of the Listed Racehorse Owners Association Stakes at Fairview. Under Richard Fourie, Golden Palm (1-3) turned Friday’s 1600m feature into a one horse race, as she pulled well clear to win by six and three quarter lengths. The winning jockey described Golden Palm as “breathtaking.. she’s a star.”
A trip to Cape Town is now on the cards for Golden Palm. Bred by Varsfontein Stud, Golden Palm, who has now earned R1 111 738 in stakes, is owned by Peter Moor. The star filly was a R260 000 buy from the 2024 August Two Year Old Sale, making Golden Palm one of the great bargain buys of the modern era.
A daughter of Master Of My Fate and the Var mare Croisette, Golden Palm, Equus Champion 2YO Filly of 2024-2025, has won five of six starts including last season’s G1 Douglas Whyte Thekwini Stakes.
