Fire Attack Adds Gr3 To Record

Bred by Ndoro Stud, Grade 1 winner Fire Attack added another significant black-type victory to his record when taking out the Gr3 Betway London News Stakes at Turffontein.

Trained by Alec Laird, the result was particularly apt. Laird famously trained the champion London News, after whom the race is named, making Fire Attack’s success in the contest especially fitting.

Racing for Messrs G A Basel, G C Cornwall, L Clark & Canine Solutions CC (Nom: Mr D C O’Driscoll), the four-year-old colt registered the fourth victory of his career with a composed performance.

Fire Attack is a son of Fire Away, a seven-time winner over 1600m–2200m whose victories included the Gr3 Dixie Stakes and the Listed Danger’s Hour Stakes and Artie Schiller Stakes. Fire Away is by War Front and out of the Gr2-placed Salute, a daughter of Personal Ensign, the unbeaten US Champion and Broodmare of the Year.

Fire Attack is out of the Mambo In Seattle mare Bonnie Beers. Bonnie Beers is a half-sister to Equus Horse of the Year and multiple Grade 1 winner Dave The King.

The second dam, Fire Tread, was a three-time winner and has produced eight winners from twelve runners, including graded stakes performers Empress Crown, Butterfly Girl and Mighty Atom, further emphasising the strength and depth of this established female family.

Fire Attack’s latest Graded success once again highlights the quality emerging from Ndoro Stud, with the colt continuing to enhance both his own record and that of a pedigree rich in proven black-type performance.
