Questioning, raised at Varsfontein Stud for breeder Mr A N Foster, secured a richly deserved first Grade 1 victory when digging deep under Richard Fourie to capture the Gr1 Hollywoodbets Gold Challenge in a thrilling finish. The victory also provided part-owner Mr Mukund Gujadhur with his first Grade 1 success, with the gelding racing in partnership with Greg and Gina Bortz and the Wernars Family.

Trained by Vaughan Marshall, the five-year-old is enjoying the form of his life, extending his remarkable winning sequence while adding a sixth graded victory to his outstanding record. A son of Querari, Questioning is a half-brother to Labyrinth and Senso Unico, out of the Captain Al mare Wheredowego.

Questioning’s success capped a sensational Champions Season for Maine Chance Farms’ outstanding sire Querari, who had only a week earlier celebrated another top-level triumph when Star Major stormed to victory in the Gr1 Daily News 2000. The pair have spearheaded an exceptional campaign for the son of Oasis Dream, who has enjoyed another stellar season with multiple stakes performers headed by his Grade 1-winning duo, further cementing his reputation as one of South Africa’s premier stallions standing at Maine Chance Farms.
